Science Experiments: the new immersive concept at Bercy Village
So are we going there or not? We have tested for you this new immersive place of 800m² located in the heart of Bercy Village, whose promise is tempting: to reconcile us with science in a space at the crossroads between museum and amusement park…
Very quickly, we understand that the primary mission of the place, to learn while having fun, is perfectly fulfilled, since each room brings its share of anecdotes and little memorable information. So as you wander around, you will learn why certain deep-sea fish glow in the dark, how the nervous system works, what the virtues of plants are, or even how tall Robert Wadlow, the tallest man who ever lived, was. . The rooms follow one another in an astonishing journey that will take you from the highest heavens to the center of the Earth, passing through the seabed. A lively and immersive journey, thanks to the clever use of new technologies. We particularly appreciate the discovery of our universe thanks to a film in virtual reality (be careful, this is prohibited for children under 10 years old, who will be able to enjoy the film projected in a room). For about ten minutes, you will all be in the moonlight, to fully enjoy having your head in the clouds. We also fell in love with the Volcano room, whose interactive floor and walls, which react to the approach of visitors, will delight young and old alike. An interaction almost as exhilarating as taking 400,000 volts through your body (and believe us, it's mind-blowing). We therefore appreciate this place, a sort of new version of the Cité des Sciences or the Palais de la Découverte. But we are still a little frustrated when we leave, due to the speed of the visit. One hour maximum, to go through the rooms which are not always very large, and sometimes lack a little interaction. And so we are neither really in a museum (no real works of art to contemplate) nor really in an amusement park. The visit sometimes lacks interaction, the visitor was more often a spectator than an actor - while we already imagined ourselves conducting experiments in a laboratory - and the whole thing could therefore be a little more spectacular. Especially considering the price, since access is not given. 19 euros for adults, 16 euros at a reduced rate, and above all 11 euros for all children under 12 years old... In the same way, only the luckiest will be able, for a fee, to fly away thanks to the Moon installation, which proposes to test lunar gravity. Our advice: focus on your young teenagers, who may be more sensitive to the information and facilities offered. An astonishing place, which still allows you to see science differently.
