If Bollywood for you simply boils down to a complicated love story, meticulous choreography or equally insane fight scenes with a pronounced taste for pyrotechnics, tigers and trains, then this exhibition is for you ! The Musée du Quai Branly brushes aside all the clichés surrounding this heavyweight of the big screen by inviting you to go behind the scenes of the largest film producer in the world. The result is at the height of the industry: rich, spectacular and totally excessive. Through the selection of more than 200 works, paintings, sculptures, costumes and photographs, the exhibition, soberly titled Bollywood Superstars, retraces more than a century of Indian cinema from its mythological sources to the icons of the “star system” contemporary of the last forty years. Before revisiting the cult scenes of these “new gods of film”, the museum offers an original journey through the 7th art, focusing on a whole series of popular Indian narrative arts with its storytelling shows and shadow theaters. and its magic lanterns, then by resurrecting the legends of Hindu epics where gods, princes and historical figures confront each other. The recipe for a good blockbuster?
François Morellet would have been one hundred years old: from the City of Architecture to the Louvre, from Cholet to Marseille, the confirmed dates of the centenary.
