The Gustave Moreau and the Middle Ages rediscovered exhibition at the Gustave Moreau Museum

10

Dive into the depths of the Middle Ages...in the 19th century! Gustave Moreau, the obscurely famous prince of the symbolists, invites you to a medieval rereading of his mystical work. In addition to his inclination for myths and legends, biblical references and pagan stories, the painter participated throughout his career in the resurrection of the Middle Ages in painting. From his first romantic paintings to his final syncretic works, this exhibition brings together some of his most beautiful masterpieces, precious Unicorns or monstrous Chimeras, perfect incarnations of "all forms of passion, fantasy, caprice in women.
