A dizzying stack of chairs on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris!
77 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré
Until December 12, 2023
Yes, Paris is always full of surprises! Certain artists sometimes take over the capital to present open-air installations to the public, more or less monumental. No wonder for the world capital of culture!
This time, it is in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, opposite the chic Hôtel Bristol, that the latest discovery is nestled, surprising and mysterious to say the least: a veritable nest of wooden chairs, defying the laws of gravity, sits along the facade of a Haussmann building, on the third floor.
Until December 12, 2023, meet for the most curious at 77 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré to observe this surprising and enigmatic installation, called “Nest in Liaigre”, created by Tadashi Kawamata, a Japanese visual artist. The approach of this daring artist consists of assembling various recycled materials such as crates, wooden planks or even sticks. He is known for regularly exhibiting monumental site-specific works around the world.
This time setting his sights on Paris for the end of the year with this original installation, the artist decided to explore the close relationship between art, design, architecture and daily life. To do this, he stacked no less than a hundred chairs, all collected from Emmaüs.
For the most curious among you, know that a hidden part of this nest of chairs can be discovered inside the building, inside which the rest of the artist's exhibition awaits you, to discover until March 25, 2024. So, tempted? 😉
