Alice Taglioni moving in Vél d'Hiv at the Théâtre Antoine
Antoine Theater From January 10 to February 18, 2024

The Antoine Theater is hosting a moving show featuring Jewish women, victims of French barbarism, figures of courage and daring in a tragic text written by the Shoah Memorial. Alone on stage, Alice Taglioni honors the memory of the victims of the Vel' d'hiv' roundup. Directed by Alex Lutz, the actress lends her voice to the testimonies of Holocaust survivors to restore the tragic fate of thousands of deceased.
Before being Jewish, victims of the French barbarism of July 16, 1942, they were women, mothers, daughters or sisters... All were carried away by the unspeakable. Yet there were as many fates as there were arrests, as many heroic and desperate stories. The distress of these women, their courage, their audacity reflect a formidable and profound humanity. Relayed by the perspectives of anonymous witnesses, administrative archives, official commemorative traces, returning from the past or emerging in the present, the voices of these women form a cruel continuity, a dizzying relay, a tragic and sublime chorus, which Alice Taglioni condenses into a violent and chaotic music – that of History, of Vel d'Hiv and of Humanity.
