Frisbee: a sports exhibition at the Würth Museum until September 15, 2024
WÜRTH MUSEUM
Until September 15, 2024
The Olympic Games are approaching and the Würth Museum is already in the starting blocks. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and collages adorn the room. A structured visit which makes us follow the muscles and curves of the bodies exhibited. The movement is stretched or frozen, outside of time. Here, the work memorizes the suspended moment where physical force is majestically revealed. The exhibition does not perceive physical activity as a societal injunction, but as an emancipatory instance where each individual draws freedom.
A unique shot of Basquiat and Warhol in boxing gear, walkers captured by Pissarro, colorful dancers painted by Miró, cyclists sketched by Fernand Léger, or even... a photo of Marcel Duchamp challenging Man Ray to chess ? The best of modern and contemporary art collide in this fast-paced exhibition. Colorful and lively, this stimulating selection on the pleasures of sport leaves us with no respite. So, out of breath?
