“Women’s Talents” 83 La Garde 2024, the show that celebrates female creativity in the Var
Espace Gérard-Philipe, 83130
From February 28 to March 3, 2024
Where are the women ? If this problem naturally arises in museums around the world (female artists still make up less than 5% of the collections at the Louvre and the MET), this is a question that fortunately you will not need to answer... Here, women are everywhere, asserting their character, manifesting their difference and their singularity through captivating works.
Nestled in the small town of La Garde, the salon “Talents de femmes” 83 La Garde has been combining feminine art under the Var sun for over 20 years, celebrating the creativity of virtuoso artists, of outstanding painters, sculptors, visual artists and writers with captivating worlds. This 23rd edition is no exception to the rule and once again takes us on a journey to discover new talents.
After having distinguished the aquatic engravings of Dominique Marti and the elegant silhouettes of Bénédicte Le Moigne, after having rewarded the realistic canvases of Véronique Colin and praised the original work of the visual artist Dailfine Laureau and the poetic work of Isabelle Riou-Teisseire, the This year, the salon brings together 51 artists under its wing. Among them, new recruits but also former winners like Agnès Molitor, winner in photography and cyanotype, Brigitte Dravet who offers a second youth to her antique models by covering them in gold or Roselyne Conil and her giants whose generous shapes we evoke the busty Nanas of Niki de Saint Phalle. From nuggets to discoveries, we let ourselves be guided by the talent of these women until we elect our favorite artists. This is good, the show also awards six awards during its festivities: two in painting, one in sculpture, a matrix prize which includes photography and engraving, a favorite on the evening of the opening and a public prize the day after. closing noon. The bets are on, but you can already get an idea during the watercolor, painting and sculpture demonstrations planned throughout the show...
