Tamara Kostianovsky is unlike any other. And yet, how can we not think here of Rembrandt's Skinned Ox, one of the Dutch master's rare still lifes, or of Soutine's carrion at the sight of its open entrails and its animal carcasses of torn tissues? Despite these raw flesh sewn with pink threads, we approach dangerously close to around thirty works of art to discover the underside of his strangely baroque universe and touch with our eyes all the poetry of his sculptures similar to hunting trophies. Theater of Metamorphoses by Tamara Kostianovsky, this enchanting exhibition here invites us on a walk in the forest where the trees have taken root in one of the most polluting industries. The contemporary artist draws her creativity from the vestiges of ready-to-wear, offering a second life to recycled clothing by imagining her trompe-l'oeil pieces of haunting but deceptive beauty. Here, the visual artist superimposes layers, makes color sing while emphasizing the fragility of existence by taking belongings from her deceased loved ones. Oscillating between fascination and repulsion, his works can be read like oxymorons, combining beauty and cruelty, refinement and brutality, life and death. A life-size memento mori that can be observed with an open body.
