Our views of the exhibition “Grandioses Poems” on Zao Wou-Ki at the Franciscaines

THE FRANCISCANS
Until May 26, 2024

Create poetry in the void, power in color. In the art of Zao Wou-Ki there is a treatment of pigments reminiscent of the greatest impressionists, and an ink technique equaling the mastery of traditional Chinese painters. The quivering of the waters and the vitality of the colors of his masterful triptych Homage to Claude Monet strongly echo those of the Water Lilies by the master of Giverny. Paintings, watercolors, prints, tapestries, porcelain and even an immense wall decoration fill this grandiose exhibition, revealing a profound reality, beyond the visible, and with a resolutely impressionist atmosphere.
