“The Ten Commandments – The Desire to Love” returns to the Seine Musicale to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this emblematic show, initially created by Élie Chouraqui and Pascal Obispo. This production, which has left its mark on generations, is distinguished by its ability to combine the narrative power of the Old Testament with contemporary and poignant music.

From the first notes, the audience is transported by a grandiose orchestration which perfectly embraces the universal themes of freedom, faith and love. The lavish set and meticulously designed costumes immediately immerse viewers in ancient Egypt, making Moses' epic struggle to free his people from oppression tangible. The cast, renewed for this new version, brings a refreshing energy while remaining faithful to the soul of the original version. The vocal performances are exceptional, particularly in tracks like “L’pulsion d’aimer,” which resonates with undiminished emotional intensity. This song, a true hymn to love, has lost none of its power and continues to deeply touch the hearts of the public. The choreography, dynamic and expressive, serves as a common thread throughout the scenes, delicately illustrating the internal conflicts and complex relationships between the characters. The dancers embody with grace and power the movements of a crowd in search of freedom. An introspective journey that particularly resonates in these troubled times, offering a reflection on fundamental human values. Let yourself be carried away by this epic musical fresco which, twenty years after its premiere, continues to captivate and deeply move.

We saw, we tell you!

Twenty years later, The Ten Commandments returned to the Seine Musicale under a new name, “The desire to love”. This title sounds like a tribute to the late Daniel Lévi, whom Obispo evokes with emotion before the start of the show, and confirms that, despite the modernity of the latter, it remains fundamentally linked to the original version, so dear to the heart of the show. audience. New actors, contemporary choreography, video projections and a new scenography, if spectators find the plot of this well-known epic and the songs of Pascal Obispo that we no longer present, it is a new version that offers us this return! The performance of the actors is striking, Sarah Koper (Yokebed), with her sovereign voice, transports and upsets the audience throughout the show. As for David Lempell (Ramses) and Benjamin Bocconi (Moses), they inhabit the show scene after scene, offering us interpretations vibrant with emotion and sincerity. Their melodic and contrasting voices, which resonate wonderfully with the lyrics of “to each his own dreams”, punctuate the piece during powerful and heartbreaking face-to-face encounters which reach their climax in the song “my brother”. Modern and original, the choreographies hold a crucial place in this new version. They structure, model and accompany the story with unexpected dexterity and lyricism. The innovation of this reinterpretation also lies in the grandiose use of projections. Whether it is to represent the plagues falling on Egypt, with Ramses facing them, the tables of the ten commandments or even the opening of the sea in two by Moses, the projections immerse us entirely in this grandiose epic .
