Art Basel, the famous contemporary art fair, unveils the details and highlights of its 2024 edition, which marks a major transformation with its inauguration under the new name of Art Basel Paris{ 6} at the recently renovated Grand Palais. This edition will welcome 40 more galleries than in 2023, bringing the total number to 194, which represents a significant increase of 26%. This development makes it possible to broaden the exploration of major artistic scenes and movements, thus strengthening the position of Paris as an essential center of the global art market. Art Basel Paris will be structured around three main sectors:
Galleries, bringing together established galleries
Emergence, dedicated to emerging galleries and artists
Premise, a new sector highlighting atypical curatorial proposals. The latter will include creations before 1900, reflecting Art Basel Paris' commitment to a more inclusive rereading of art history.
Among the notable initiatives of this edition, the Oh La La! will allow galleries to present works rarely exhibited, thus creating a dynamic and stimulating journey for visitors during the public days of October 18 and 19.
Like every year, an ambitious free public program will take place in various iconic places in the capital. Around this event, two exhibitions will be organized in major Parisian institutions: a tribute to surrealism at the Center Pompidou and an exhibition dedicated to Arte Povera at the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection.
