The Blue Rider: Kandinsky and Münter exhibition at the Tate Modern in London
Tate Modern - London
Until October 20, 2024
“We both liked blue, Marc liked horses, I liked riders”. From these strange collusions was born the Blue Rider, a bustling group of artists who galloped through the codes of art at the beginning of the 20th century with a single goal, that of freeing colors from their realistic prison. Here, blue bursts like a summer sky, while Münter’s flamboyant palette clashes with Kandinsky’s revolutionary work. His Couple on Horseback is a sumptuous witness to this expressive avant-garde: two ethereal silhouettes perched on a mysterious horse, cross a dreamlike landscape where the colors intertwine just like the couple lover.
