Art Basel Paris 2025
The Grand Palais in Paris
October 24-26, 2025
A paper giant rises towards the sky beneath the magnificent glass roof of the Grand Palais. Five meters high, blending mineral pigments and newspapers like a fragile banner: Tanoa Sasraku's work stands as a manifesto.
Art Basel Paris is about to open its doors under the sign of visual shock. Visual, visions. Brilliant and multifaceted. For three days, the capital becomes the magnetic center of the global art market. Two hundred and six galleries from forty-one countries, from treasures by Basquiat, Richter, and Hantaï to today's most fiery voices: Sheila Hicks weaving color like supple architecture, Tracey Emin delivering furious and intimate canvases, Louise Bourgeois emerging in late bronze, Sabine Moritz laying bare her memory in chiaroscuro. The booths compete like opera stages: everything is there to dazzle, everything is designed to create an image. In Paris, the avant-garde unfolds in an incandescent score. In this dizzying display, a rare Duchamp converses with Hannah Höch, a textile by Mimi Parent crumples near the reliefs of Louise Nevelson.
A century of experimentation can be glimpsed as a single continuous line, traversing the city's aesthetic revolutions to project itself into tomorrow. The eyes of the world turn to Paris, which takes the pulse of the art world. Here, historical avant-gardes find an echo in contemporary anger, fragility, and utopias. There, the eye is lost in a mosaic designed to capture light, hold the gaze, and spread across a screen. Paris doesn't host Art Basel: it recognizes itself in it, offering the fair the backdrop for its myth.
