De style gréco-bouddhique, les bouddhas de la falaise de Bamiyan en Afghanistan font le pont entre la culture bouddhique indienne et l’art grec, héritage des conquêtes d’Alexandre le Grand. Hauts d’une cinquantaine de mètres, ils se dressaient dans des niches géantes, telles des statues colossales protégeant cet ancien monastère du IIIe siècle. Jusqu’au jour où ils furent détruits, en 2001, par les Talibans. De cet acte violent, l’artiste Pascal Convert en a fait une démarche photographique. Pour cette 7e carte blanche, ses clichés et scans 3D confrontent le visiteur à un hommage historique. Une œuvre elle aussi monumental, interrogeant notre rapport au passé, à la destruction et à l’esthétique de la trace.
