Depuis le début des années 90, l’artiste britannique Simon Starling revisite l’histoire des formes et des valeurs grâce à sa fabrication d’objets. Son exposition personnelle au Plateau est pour lui l’occasion de proposer un voyage spatial et temporel entre une série de nouvelles productions et des pièces plus anciennes, plaçant toujours le contexte de production au cœur de sa démarche, qui confère un statut à ses œuvres. Ainsi, l’artiste met en relief la persistance du passé dans le présent et offre ainsi un éclairage singulier sur les développements et les évolutions de notre société. Par exemple en s’intéressant aux liens entre les débuts de l’informatique et d’autres technologies comme le cinéma, le tissage et la musique, ou encore d’une série de tapisseries reproduisant les bandes perforées de films, utilisées par Konrad Zuse, qui structurent le parcours dans les différents espaces. Les procédés à l’œuvre lors de plusieurs collaborations, ont été la mise en relief des questions de droit d’auteur, essentielles pour un artiste.

During Art Basel Paris week, from October 20 to 25, 2026, around fifteen monumental works and exhibitions are offered free of charge between the Grand Palais, the Trocadéro and the left bank: Tracey Emin facing the Eiffel Tower, Cosima von Bonin and Prune Nourry at the Petit Palais, Alice Diop at the Palais d'Iéna, Kutluğ Ataman at the Beaux-Arts.
