Dans quelle mesure Napoléon III a-t-il marqué le devenir de la Corse ? Alors que l’île de beauté doit faire face à d’importantes difficultés économiques, le neveu de Napoléon Ier s’impose comme un espoir de modernité. C’est ici tout l’enjeu de cette exposition. Quand le monarque s’installe sur le territoire corse, il y observe la misère mais surtout un immense potentiel. Au cours du Second Empire, la Corse se transforme et évolue dans de nombreux domaines, à tel point qu’elle rivalise avec la Côte d’Azur ou le pays Basque allant jusqu’à devenir une destination touristique hivernale internationale. Le parcours de l’exposition vient apporter un éclairage sur cette période historique. Période qui a indubitablement permis à l’île, d’être ce qu’elle est actuellement : rayonnante et attractive.
