* The Louvre Odysseys: a series of podcasts on a splendid collection
Who could have stolen the famous Mona Lisa in 1911? Where was the Victory of Samothrace discovered? Why does Pharaoh Akhenaten remain a great mystery? The Louvre has more than one trick up its sleeve to teach you the most beautiful anecdotes from its collection! With a series of podcasts aimed at 7-12 year olds, discover the history of the works and personalities of the largest museum in the world.
Produced by journalist Laure Grandbesançon from France Inter, the program explores the treasures of the Louvre's history in around twenty minutes, with the help of its curators. Launched in June 2019, this series of podcasts covers significant events, from the discovery of America to the French Revolution, including some archaeological excavations in the tombs of the kings of Egypt.
For the moment, five episodes can be discovered on the Louvre website and on France inter. We talk about the life of Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun, the discovery of the Victory of Samothrace, the theft of the Mona Lisa, the mystery of Akhenaten, and even the story of the first director of the museum. And it's not over ! Because the next podcasts will focus on the genius of Michelangelo as well as the strange Pazuzu statuette, exhibited in the Oriental Antiquities collection...
