Poussin and love exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon: lust and eroticism

Who said that classic rhymes with austerity? The forty drawings and paintings made by Nicolas Poussin seem to be exhibited to prove us the opposite. From this resolutely academic and philosophical painter, the journey aims to reveal to us a sensual, even erotic, artistic facet. Divided into five thematic sections, the exhibition presents the sometimes licentious iconography of this goldsmith of the sublime, presenting in turn his languid female nudes, the Dionysian intoxication of Greek tragedies, or even all the sometimes mocking springs of lust and love drama.
