Tacita Dean exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce: After the storm

1

Change of scenery at the Bourse de Commerce! The dilapidated landscape of uprooted trees imagined by Danh Vō gives way to the meditative work of Tacita Dean. On the sidelines of the Before the Storm exhibition, the British video artist signs this minimalist and contemplative epilogue in the majestic Rotunda punctuated by the combination and hybridization of her personal images. By merging extracts from his first films shot in Super 8 and refilmed in 35 mm with views from his collection of postcards, the artist draws a new map of the world with autobiographical overtones. Without beginning or end, Tacita Dean's atmospheric work brings distant temporalities back to life by drawing our attention to the inexorable passage of time that passes, crystallizing the perpetual change of the seasons.
