Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs: the star exhibition of the season is coming to Paris.

This is undoubtedly the flagship exhibition of this season, the Grande Halle de la Villette welcomes the most mythical of the pharaohs, the aptly named Ramses the Great, who is known as Ramses II. The King of Kings makes a stopover in Paris for the exhibition of all superlatives, which has already passed through Houston, Boston and San Francisco. And for the occasion, a major surprise awaits us: to be able to admire in flesh and blood (or almost) the coffin of Ramses II, Egyptian national treasure which will not be presented anywhere else. In all, more than 180 priceless treasures are presented to us, monumental statues, colossus 4 meters high, mummies of animals never left Egypt, royal masks, sarcophagi and precious amulets punctuate this long descent into the kingdom of the dead in the tombs of the illustrious sovereign and his wife Queen Nefertari. The path to eternity here seems paved with a thousand wonders, as with this impressive necklace of gold and encrusted gems weighing more than 8 kg. Ramses II appears to us here as the pharaoh of excess. Victorious conqueror, tireless builder, warrior in the reconquest of the lost lands of the Egyptian empire and negotiator of the most famous peace treaty of Antiquity... With its grandiose scenography, the exhibition offers us an almost mystical immersion in the intimacy of the legendary sovereign, eternal colossus who reigned over Egypt for 66 years before dying at the age of 91. A spectacular dive into the beyond, which ends on the heights of the Temple of Abu Simbel thanks to a striking virtual reality experience giving us the illusion of touching the coveted gold of the pharaohs with our fingertips.
