NFT exhibition: Poetics of the immaterial at the Center Pompidou

1

Last February, the Center Pompidou acquired 18 digital works, including 16 NFT, produced by 13 French artists as well as international artists. This is a historic event. The museum becomes the first French public institution to acquire this new mutation of contemporary art, purely digital and impalpable. The image is no longer just immaterial, it comes down to a code. The works have been carefully chosen to represent the plurality of this practice, crossing the fields of digital art, crypto art and contemporary art that addresses the particularities of the decentralized economy. These NFTs were also mostly donated by the artists, showing their desire to become part of the history of art in the long term, and not simply in a parallel economy.
