Freddie Mercury's collection soon to be auctioned
“A lot of people said my house looked like a museum and I’m starting to understand them.” These words were spoken by Freddie Mercury himself. And for good reason, the British pop legend was the happy owner of more than 1,500 pieces of art. More than 30 years after his death, this gargantuan collection will be put up for auction.
Her first love, Mary Austin, therefore gives up the works that she has meticulously preserved all this time. Among the lots, the grand piano on which he composed several of his masterpieces and which is estimated at 3 million pounds sterling, as well as several notes where he wrote the lyrics of his songs, estimated at several hundred thousand pounds sterling.
The sale will take place through 6 sales which will take place in London between September 6 and 13. Before that, the collection had been exhibited all over the world, from New York to Hong Kong. Given the undeniable artistic sense of the leader of the Queen group, these sales could well reach records. To be continued...
