Discover our images of Loading, urban art in the digital age at the Grand Palais Immersif
A street art exhibition... without a single graffiti on the walls? It was a daring bet, but is the risk worth it? If we are now more and more familiar with the notions of virtual reality, the Grand Palais Immersif takes the pressure up a notch by offering a 100% digital experience around urban art. Here, no tags, collages, or even spray paint, but XXL digital reconstructions of the most spectacular productions of the last ten, twenty or thirty years, like this gigantic Bird Man by Ella & Pitr on the heights of Santiago. Riding the wave of digital at all costs, the exhibition traces the history of street art on the big screen. This immersive walk behind the scenes of graffiti takes us to the other side of the globe, from India to Chile via the Maghreb, to discover ever more monumental pieces. From New York subways to drone paintings, the museum here breaks down the boundaries of urban art by choosing only works produced in the street, some of which have already disappeared. A way of encapsulating the underside of a popular, marginal and ephemeral artistic practice.
