Do you always believe what you see? A Marvel superhero transformed into an eternal old man? A Barbie house more real than its holographic inhabitants? Mutant fossils that shatter our pristine imaginations? “The dream has its reasons”, William Shakespeare whispered to us… What if we tried to discover them?

The Biennale d'Issy offers us an extraordinary journey into the depths of the dreams of around sixty contemporary artists among the most recognized on the French artistic scene, here, at the Musée de la Carte à Jouer and in the entire town of Issy-les-Moulineaux. An enchanting and dreamlike stroll that takes us from the strange chimeras of Pat Andrea to the creative ambushes of Marc Desgrandchamps, via this poetic and colorful installation by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, inviting us to reverse the codes, to dream our lives as we would live a dream.

Here, you will have understood, nothing is what it seems... Is this intriguing forest of NILS-UDO really a utopia? Maybe not, because this image could soon be transformed into a new life-size art venue. And here ? Do you feel this furious desire to dive into the azure waters of Eric Corne? Or will you notice signs of a devastating surge that may have already struck? How can we decline this invitation to dinner from Nadou Fredj, when our gaze catches a glimpse of the interior of the soup tureen plunged into this captivating darkness?

Much more than an exhibition, the artists give us a real visual experience, offering us the opportunity to decipher the clues of an imaginary rebus on the borders of reality, as here with these crumpled fabric sculptures by Emma Nony which improvises chiffonier of the dreams of our inhabited nights. And what about this burst of blood watercolors by the Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo as the ultimate allegory of a better world... But which one? A world like Alice in Wonderland, imaginary and magical, without ever being innocent, which is told under the amused gaze of Anne-Marie Vesco's crow just waiting for our last sleep...

So many sketches made up of visual and sensory enigmas that redraw the contours of our reality. Sweet dreams…
