The Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac unveils extremely rare photos of Irving Penn in an intimate and confidential exhibition, highlighting an experimental and largely unknown side of the star photographer of fashion magazines. More sultry than ever, Mister Penn crystallizes here the movement of young naked dancers caught in an improvised choreography by Anna Halprin. The artist captures tender gestures in a feverish photographic ballet where bodies intertwine freely. Deemed too bold in the 1960s to be published, these black and white slides are being shown to the public for the first time in more than 25 years. A little revolution!
