Where are the women ? Everywhere... and nowhere at the same time. Of course, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille preserves wonderful examples of the female body, whether in the form of a goddess in Jean-Baptiste Greuze, a furious Medea in Delacroix or a fallen Angel in Rodin; but what about women artists? What place do we give to the second sex if it does not take on the role of muse, model, muse or wife? Of the 60,000 works kept by the museum, only 135 are attributed to women. With the exception of a few great figures of modern art such as Camille Claudel, Sonia Delaunay or Marie Laurencin, this unique exhibition intends to rehabilitate the names of these women who are little-known, marginalized or simply excluded from the ranks of the The history of art.
