Surprise ! A couple unknowingly buys a lost painting by Raphael

This year, French collectors unknowingly purchased a prestigious painting on the Internet, without knowing its history or its mysterious secret... Indeed, this painting (purchased for 30,000 pounds sterling or 5,000 euros, all the same!) hides many surprises since it has just been authenticated by experts as one of the masterpieces of the famous Italian Renaissance painter and architect! This is dated from his meeting with another great name in art, Leonardo da Vinci, in 1505.

It was after much historical research and scientific analysis, notably using infrared light, that professionals were able to trace the provenance of the painting and attribute it to this genius of the Renaissance.

Did you know ? This is not the first time that the number of works attributed to Raphael has changed recently. Earlier this year, researchers used facial recognition technology to claim that Brécy's Tondo was most likely a painting by this beloved Renaissance painter.
