This brand new museum only exhibits works... censored!

A museum that has never lived up to its name so well... Do you have a rebellious spirit and are fond of the idea of discovering hidden, controversial, prohibited works? You will be delighted! A brand new museum opened its doors in Barcelona on October 26: the Museum of Forbidden Art. Bringing together no less than 200 creations deemed offensive in the past for social, religious or political reasons, the latter is one of the new cultural places to absolutely note on your to do list!

Warhol, Klimt, Banksy, Picasso… Prepare to discover all the secret works of great names in art, which have never been exhibited to the public. The Museum presents various works from the 20th and 21th centuries, advocating "the triumph of freedom of expression" according to Tatxo Benet, journalist and collector of Spanish art, at the origin of the project.

Be careful though! This collection is designed for an informed public... The museum itself has also warned its future visitors on its account: "some of the works exhibited at the museum may cause discomfort […]" You have been warned!

Among the shocking works, will be exhibited photos by Robert Mapplethorpe, known for his homoerotic nudes, or the photograph Piss Christ by Andres Serrano, controversial to say the least. The majority of works exhibited in this museum criticize or at least question religion, mainly Christianity and Islam.

A good way to question the problems of censorship and self-censorship, more relevant than ever today in the art world.
