Abstraction is not always such an obvious route to take. Back in the 1960s: easel painting was declared dead, while American Pop art and minimalism caused a tidal wave. Faced with conceptual artists, a group of irreducible painters determined not to let go of their brushes rebels and makes color an end in itself.
