The Red Shoes at Salle Pleyel
Pleyel Hall
From February 9 to 11, 2024
After its creation at the Folies Bergère in 2020, the musical show by Marc Lavoine and Fabrice Aboulker “Les Souliers Rouges” inspired by the famous tale of Hans Andersen celebrated its big return to the stage at the Salle Pleyel and will soon be on tour throughout the France... We'll tell you about this crazy evening.
Once upon a time there was Isabelle, a young woman with a pure heart, who dreamed of only one thing: becoming a prima ballerina. Her dream can finally come true when she goes to Paris and comes across a pair of red shoes with terrible magical powers. These cursed slippers allow Isabelle to realize her dream on one condition... The young woman must renounce love forever. What will she choose?
The story begins like any fairy tale. Alas, love stories end badly in Andersen's cruel tale. Despite this tragic ending, we let ourselves be carried away by this ballet of twirling dresses and this visual magic carried by a wonderful trio of actors and extraordinary dancers. The sumptuous costumes magnify each scene. Shadows dance on the canvas. Here again, we play on velvet: ballerinas and tutus rub shoulders with black muslin. The heroine of the story evokes a porcelain dancer of overwhelming fragility. Special mention to the latter: sublime Isabelle promised to a disastrous destiny.
