Contemporary British ceramicist Gareth Mason seeks to avoid any aesthetic complacency. His work is intended to be undisciplined, rebellious. The artist mistreats the material, pierces it, blows it, combines it with others. Porcelain, glazes, oxides, granite and slate, layered sheets, his ceramics are composed of multiple elements to form unique surfaces. Gareth Mason manipulates the material in a pragmatic and physical process smoothly carried out to result in the formation of complex sculptures. A unique exhibition which proposes, as the author wishes, that the view becomes a sensation.
