The exhibition on Nina Beier at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bordeaux
CAPC BORDEAUX
Until September 8, 2024
Nina Beier. If you don't know his name yet, you won't forget it. The Bordeaux Contemporary Art Museum invites one of the most daring artists of her generation to turn the majestic spaces of its Nave upside down. Continuing her exploration of the absurd and the everyday, Nina Beier weaves a complex and confusing tapestry around the paradoxes of
our cultural archetypes. Here luxury cars are remote-controlled, dogs become fashion accessories, thousand-year-old Chinese vases are riddled with holes, plastic insects run on solar energy... Trompe-l'oeil telescoping, the improbable juxtapositions of the The Danish artist challenges our perceptions of value and authenticity, placing us face to face with the narcissisms and excesses of our societies, flirting with the cliché to better deconstruct it. Here then, we take off our shoes so as not to dirty the white carpet which covers the 2000 m² of exhibition, and we admire with fascination a staging at ground level, acidic, strange, rebellious, sometimes funny or wonderful, made of broken, spilled, damaged objects... disposable in short.
Did you know?
Nina Beier's work has been exhibited across the world, in three different continents. Europe, North America and Asia, the artist is known internationally! More recently, his sculptures were installed in Seoul. And soon, they will leap to Latin America where the Tamayo Museum in Mexico plans to make them the subject of its next exhibition.
