The Childhood of Design exhibition at the Center Pompidou: our exclusive images
Aren't you tired of white walls and sleek objects in dull tones? The Center Pompidou takes us into a colorful exhibition filled with bursts of laughter. With more than 150 pieces with a joyful aesthetic, the institution explores the renewal of discipline through the prism of children's furniture. Far from the miniaturization of objects for adults, equipment for children forms a world of its own, fun and evolving, and above all, full of inventiveness! We happily set off to discover these mini-worlds, like the rounded one of Walter Papst: difficult to resist the urge to swing on his “Rocking Horse”. Let's be good and leave the toys behind and go back to school. From Jean Prouvé to Arne Jacobsen via Marcel Lods, great architects and designers offer their version of school equipment: the Lods desk, created for the outdoors, makes us want to sit there and daydream. The talented Matali Crasset draws from the world of childhood a whole new approach to design, based on moving objects. “In every child there is an artist. The problem is knowing how to remain an artist when you grow up,” Picasso said. This exhibition full of imagination gives us many ideas.
