Exhibition Florent Farges and Florent Terracol, the enigmatic face-to-face at the Galerie de l’Europe
Between two worlds, two artists. Florent Farges and Florent Terracol could have been artistic brothers in a previous life, as their worlds correspond. The first, deeply marked by existentialist philosophy and the writings of Nietzsche, strives to describe the indescribable nonsense of our modes of consumption and thought in obscure, dark and enchanted canvases. Let’s look at the enigmatic canvas The advantage of non-existence. With an overall melancholic darkness, this chiaroscuro painting plunges us into a dystopian space close to science fiction that seems difficult to decipher. Like Florent Farges, Florent Terracol also combines dreams with reality. The artist appropriates the world around him by throwing his characters into familiar places. We thus follow the adventures of Icarus at the Bourse de Commerce, before sailing to the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon taken in The Wave by Hokusai. By bringing together the work of these two painters with surrealist influences, the Galerie de l'Europe orchestrates a captivating face-to-face and shows how both manage to transcend the reality of our companies. Florent Farges and Florent Terracol here draw the contours of a new world with saturated colors and a striking aesthetic.
