Our never-before-seen images from the Or norm exhibition at Guerlain
Maison Guerlain
From June 6 to September 12, 2024
Passion or...
This summer, the Maison Guerlain invites us to a very sunny exhibition. Since its Abeilles bottle, Guerlain has linked its history to that of gold and it is still this that it celebrates today. Associated with luxury by many, for Jacques Guerlain, gold is above all a question of color, “that of the star which enlightens us”. This is precisely the perspective that this exhibition offers us, to rediscover gold, no longer through its physical aspect, but through its symbolic dimension. From the golden leaves of Yves Klein and Georges Rousse to the inlaid works of Carolle Bénitah, an allegory of a trace of the past, between memory and oblivion, the interpretations are diverse and multiple. The icing on the cake is that Maison Guerlain has placed two orders for the event, one from the duo Graphset and Amandine Besacier, and another from the famous photographer Isabel Muño, who will produce a unique print on glass and 24-carat gold. In addition to art and fashion, another environment remains inseparable from this highly prized metal: sport. Gold cup, golden ball and, above all, gold medal, gold serves as the ultimate reward, the supreme pinnacle for athletes from all walks of life.
With the Olympic Games, this exhibition, labeled Cultural Olympiad, is strikingly topical and makes us consider the next games in a brilliant light.
