Our images of the Paralympic Stories exhibition at the Panthéon
Have you ever heard of goalball, this ball game combining tactics and skill intended for visually impaired people? A few days before the official start of the Olympic Games, the Pantheon, eternal tomb of the Great Men of the homeland, introduces us to a world that is, for the most part, totally unknown to us, that of the Games Paralympics and its extraordinary athletes, who, through their role within the movement, have written a history based on pride in difference and the demand for a more inclusive society.
Let's not be afraid of superlatives: what you will discover here, you will not see anywhere else. We're not just talking about these archival pieces like this perfectly restored 1920s wheelchair bike or this revolutionary sports equipment. With its tactile drawings and objects to touch, its Braille captions and its audio description content, this exhibition shows the way, serving as a model for an entire generation of artists, athletes and anonymous citizens for whom the Paralympic Games will not be no longer this mystery which they will never have encountered.
