“The only way to be followed is to run faster than the others” said Francis Picabia. Running at full speed, the artists of the visionary Salon des Beaux Arts share the mantra of the pioneering painter. Established artists or unknown geniuses have met every year since 1864 to shake up the art world. Here, rising star Margaux Laurens Neel, kitsch and flowery Caravaggio exhibiting a deluge of colors and flesh, meets the inhabited, quasi-divine sculptures of Davide Galbiati. The first salon to have welcomed big female names like Suzanne Valadon and Camille Claudel and avant-garde artists like Brancusi or Zao Wou-Ki is still doing its thing. One more proof that in art, it is better not to reach the age of reason.
