The Mirror Is You explores collective memory and diasporic movements through a light installation and immersive narration. Rūmia cycle at Parc de la Turlure

In this new performance of the Cycle of Rūmia, Orama Nigou embodies the divine entity Rūmia, founding mother of the rendered world to its fundamental state in the Polynesian night, Pō. To do this, she revisits the figure of the Polynesian ritual mourner whose traditional cape of royal pigeon feathers she deconstructs into a fine stole of red rooster and green duck feathers, a common thread in a reflection on the loss of traditions as much as on the extinction of species - rooster and duck feathers replacing those of the royal pigeon of which only a few specimens remain on an atoll. A mask completes the adornment of this performative device. The performance, repeated three times during the night, will give way to an installation of the cape and mask worn by the artist to materialize the act experienced, like the memorial trace of a metamorphosis.

A gesture of transmission and highlighting endemic know-how from Guyana, L'art de naître, a new textile and video installation by Tabita Rezaire, is a gentle response and spiritual to the “rebirth” of being in a world that is ever more violent and dehumanizing for racialized female bodies. Evoking the antechamber of life, as well as the use, in certain ancestral practices, of seed decoctions to stimulate lactation, the architectural structure in the shape of a hibiscus chalice invites you to discover the Guyanese pharmacopoeia, and to listen of her doula women - from the Maroon or Native American tradition - introducing us, in the dead of night, to the mysteries of motherhood.

The first outdoor screening of the film Koropa by Laura Henno calls for the immersive experience of night within night to make the interrelation of the migratory issues of the here where we are located, there where we are projected and where we project ourselves. This breathtakingly suspenseful film, navigating the border between fiction and documentary, is riveted to the worried gaze of Patron, a young boy and apprentice “Commander” whose return crossings from Comorres to Mayotte we follow. Thus embarked in the moral dilemma of the spectator, we are invited to reflect on the law of the sea as a reflecting mirror of our consciences.

In this immersive work, located between an animated film and a video game, the visitor encounters a danced presence that is both ally and adversary, intriguing and saving.
