Anniversary weekend of the Maison de l’Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière: meet on June 15 and 16, 2024
The House of Tools and Workers’ Thought
June 15 and 16
It was just 50 years ago. On June 15, 1974, the Maison de l’Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière opened its doors, revealing unusual treasures to light. Here, ancient marbles have given way to the hammers and trowels of yesteryear, the artists are craftsmen, dream sculptors, who shape the world with their virtuoso hands. Today, MOPO invites us to celebrate this anniversary around an exceptional festive weekend, punctuated by activities, meetings, workshops... Warmly welcomed and guided by passionate craftsmen, we discover the spectacular transformation of places in half a century through a fascinating photo exhibition, before embarking on the challenge of a crazy brick construction… LEGO! Transmission, sharing, conviviality, the largest tool museum in the world offers us here a celebration of the know-how of these workers of yesterday and tomorrow, all united to shape the most beautiful future.
DID YOU KNOW?
It is nicknamed the “Worker’s Louvre” . And for good reason, the MOPO presents a unique collection in the world of 12,000 tools, ranging from the 17th to the 19th century, displayed in a prodigious manner in the heart of 65 display cases in the sumptuous setting of the Hôtel de Mauroy.
