Jeantet and Penven exhibition at the Galerie de l’Europe: the chromatic dialogue
Europe Gallery
June 4 to 29, 2024
Explore the mysteries of light, seek to make the invisible visible, capture the ephemeral. In the luminous setting of the Galerie de l’Europe, a magical encounter takes place between the works of Joseph Jeantet and those of Thierry Penven. Two artists, two approaches to color, sometimes lively and fractured, sometimes velvety and diffuse, offering us a unique visual experience, imbued with contrasts and harmony. Here, Joseph Jeantet continues his quest for impermanence. His paintings are the fruit of an exploration where color becomes form, where the unpredictable mixes with inspiration on an unfinished and unfinishable score. Inspired by the Italian Surrealists and Primitives, Jeantet draws lines that emerge like the foam of an unfathomable sea, letting himself be guided by a process that he chooses not to master. Faced with this tumultuous exploration, the works of Thierry Penven reveal an intimate quest for light. A watercolor virtuoso, the artist captures the snapshot of the gaze, revealing ephemeral and living glimmers. His paintings, imbued with softness and delicacy, border on abstraction in a free interpretation of light.
