The Concert and Games festival is back at the Domaine de Saint-Cloud!
Domaine National de Saint-Cloud
From Saturday June 8 to Sunday June 9, 2024
For its Concert and Games festival, the Saint-Cloud estate takes us on a journey through the world and through times. This new edition will be an opportunity to rediscover, in a different way, the sumptuous gardens of the old castle and their incredible games, during an extraordinary musical stroll.
Destroyed in 1870, the Château de Saint-Cloud had originally belonged to Philippe d'Orléans, the extravagant brother of Louis XIV. Over the years, he decorated it, enlarged it and made it one of the sumptuous castles of French heritage. Before he acquired it, big names had already stayed there such as Henri IV or even Henri III who was assassinated there by Jacques Clément. It then belonged to Louis XVI, who had also been seduced by the beauty of the castle and who bought it for Marie-Antoinette. It is therefore a place steeped in history and which, despite the disappearance of the castle, retains traces of the past, of those who inhabited it, of the craftsmen who shaped it and of the sumptuous receptions which were organized there. Even today, these gardens continue to write their history, amaze their visitors and bring them together around events such as the Concerts and Games festival.
This year again, the festival presents artists from all over the world, inviting them to share and mix their musical styles, their voices, their instruments as well as their culture and traditions. Télamuré, a group made up of three musicians from southern Italy, will offer an explosion of rhythm, voice, and energy. The three Iranian, Palestinian and French musicians of Chakâm, for their part, make the strings of the târ, qanun and gamba resonate, in an intense melody, with Arabic and baroque resonances. But the most surprising show will certainly be that of Sky & Earth which, to the sound of the African kora and balafon of Malian musicians Sissoko and Jouyaté, will resonate the captivating voice of Huong Thanh, imbued with traditional Vietnamese songs.
Within these illustrious gardens, this festival, in a rhythmic and symphonic explosion, demonstrates the unifying power of the 4th art.
