Leaving a place without saying goodbye. Tadao Cern has this astonishing gift of enveloping us in an atmosphere of strangeness and serenity. This monumental installation, made up of thousands of blades of dried grass, creates a golden cloud that seems to float in the air, inviting us into deep and calming contemplation. The Lithuanian artist once again manages to merge the everyday and the extraordinary, transforming a simple and common material into an immersive work of art that questions our relationship to farewells and the transience of existence. As we stroll under this plant canopy, here in this religious and sacred place, Tadao Cern invites us to reflect on the farewells we have made or will have to make – whether it is the end of a party, a relationship or even of life itself. The long golden stems, bathed in soft light, evoke the beauty of wheat fields at dusk, an image both banal and deeply comforting. Simple, everyday moments that are the ones we miss the most, once gone.

Banality thus becomes a mirror of our deepest attachments, of our loves and our nostalgia oscillating between the desire to stay and the inevitable need to leave.
