Flora Moscovici exhibition at the Airship Hangar: Colorful
Airship Hangar
Until September 22, 2024
In the Airship Hangar of Écausseville, a concrete cathedral erected at the beginning of the 20th century, the magic of art meets the raw majesty of military architecture. It is in this exceptional setting that Flora Moscovici, a contemporary artist recognized for her colorful and impressionist interventions in public spaces, has created a gigantic and immersive work. The floor of the hangar, usually cold and utilitarian, is transformed under Moscovici's brushstrokes into a vibrant landscape, invaded by a sea of blue paint which remains to be explored. On board an aéroplume – an airship inflated with helium and maneuvered by oar – the visitor can fly over this monumental fresco. Suspended in the air, he is invited to a unique contemplation, gradually revealing the painting, revealing nuances and details invisible from the ground. An experience of poetic floating above an ocean of colors.
Did you know?
The Airship Hangar, built between 1917 and 1919 for military uses, lends itself perfectly to this aerial exploration. Its imposing structure, its colossal dimensions and its concrete texture contrast magnificently with the delicacy of the colors applied by Moscovici. The colors, in an aerial dance, invade the space, amplifying the feeling of floating, of total freedom.
