Willem de Kooning exhibition at the Gallerie Dell'Accademia

What does Italy remind you of? For Willem de Kooning, a bubbling of bright colors, sounds and dazzling sensations, in a very special light. Through his protean work, the painter and sculptor has sublimated these sunny stimulations into true visual symphonies. In a unique exhibition exploring for the first time his stays in Italy, we discover through 75 vibrantly colored canvases the profound impact of the peninsula on the artist's work. In continual transformation, the abstract paintings of the man who claimed to have to “change to remain the same”, adorned with subtly tinted whites, contrasted with dazzling colors, reveal a moving composition.
