Exhibition Inside out by Stefan Brüggemann at the Venet Foundation
Venet Foundation
Until September 28, 2024
Combining graffiti, minimalism and conceptualism, the works of Stefan Brüggemann claim a radical vision of contemporary art. The Mexican artist takes over the foundation's spaces to transform the place into a living sculpture. His spray-painted words invade glass windows, walls and ceilings, directing the viewer's gaze no longer towards the interior of the gallery but towards the exterior, thus reversing the usual perspective of an exhibition. In this visual hubbub, its stainless steel doors stand like totems, inviting us to cross their threshold, to conquer unknown worlds, mirrors of our chimeras and our daydreams. In the sculpture park, its strangely and enigmatically arranged doors communicate with works by Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Carl Andre and Bernar Venet, including his impressive Indeterminate Lines and Arcs{ 12} which seem to spring from the earth to defy the laws of gravity.
