Vincent Van Gogh exhibition at the National Gallery
National Gallery - England
From Sept. 14, 2024 to Jan. 19, 2025
Say goodbye to the image of the tormented painter. The National Gallery presents Vincent Van Gogh as a poet in love, in love with nature, light and freedom. In search of redemption, this gentle exhibition invites us to delve into the peaceful work of the Dutch master through his greatest masterpieces, his bouquets of fresh flowers and his sunsets. We thus follow the artist with the cut ear from dawn to dusk, passing from a field of olive trees painted at dawn to a sparkling starry night, sublime monochromes of Prussian blue, ultramarine and cobalt on which the stars are reflected. We watch with new serenity as Van Gogh revolutionizes his style in a symphony of colors and aerial textures, watch the clouds swirl in the sky and the cypresses sway in the wind. Even the vision of his room in Arles, traditionally austere, today reflects his quest for absolute rest, expressing the tranquility of a simple and ordered daily life. A portrait in opposition to his feverish painting which should give rise to a new golden legend...
