The MuAM comes alive for 72 hours for the Science Festival
MUSEUM OF ARTS AND CRAFTS
October 3, 4 and 5
“Science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul.” If Rabelais issued the warning, the Musée des Arts et Métiers offers redress. From October 3 to 5, evenings, workshops, experiments, and meetings will punctuate the Science Festival. The primary objective is to bring researchers and the public closer together, and to demonstrate how vibrant, rich, and diverse science and research are.
This will also be an opportunity for the Cnam (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts) to focus on the theme of intelligence. Activities dedicated to AI, plant and animal intelligence, and workshops to trick our brains will be offered.
A busy evening
The festivities will begin on Friday evening with Science Night, an event from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. designed for young adults. On the program: “speed searching” sessions (10-minute whirlwind meetings with researchers), followed by an improv show blending science and humor, intertwining fact and fiction, hosted by scientists and comedians. The participation of expert-influencers Julien Bobroff and Wonderwomath will also offer special opportunities for interaction with the public during special tours. Finally, the evening will conclude on the dance floor with a DJ set by DJ Sailor (Marine Garrec).
A weekend for the family
The next day, no time to rest: the museum is decked out with a multitude of stands. Young and old alike can attend, and above all participate in, a wide range of activities. Whether it's a deep dive into the heart of the laboratories, a workshop organized by the media outlet Brief.science to better understand AI in our lives, or meetings with young inventors, winners of the Science & Vie Junior prize, who came to present their creations. And let's not forget the little ones: shows, puzzles, coding workshops, and optical illusions will keep their brains stimulated.
Making science accessible
For the MuAM, these 72 hours are an opportunity to reaffirm its mission: to be a place of memory and transmission which, through a vibrant space, allows us to envision the future. At the end of the Science Festival, it should therefore regain its consciousness.
