Korean Digital Art in the Spotlight

AI fascinates and terrifies us – what if an artist made this anxiety visible? In the Boiler Room of the Fiminco Foundation, a 1,200 m² space with 14-meter ceilings, Yiyun Kang presents three immersive installations that transform contemporary technological chaos into a sensory experience. Great Anxiety gives form to the collective fear aroused by artificial intelligence: a vast metallic membrane reacts to light and sound, flooding the space with silver and red reflections – fascinating beauty and terror intertwined.

Echo Chamber traps the visitor in a dialogue with a chatbot that leaves them with only two options – blind optimism or fatalistic pessimism – a chilling mirror of algorithmic polarization. Entanglement, finally, soothes tensions in a meditative video where the biological and the digital cease to oppose each other and instead co-evolve. The journey continues with four emerging Korean artists. Hayoung converts digital traces into fragrances with Data Perfume, revealing the invisible infrastructure of algorithmic capitalism.

Jisoo Yoo transforms visitors' gestures into particles in perpetual recomposition. Intae Hwang creates a tension between dreamlike atmosphere and real data. Youngchan Ko explores underground spaces to offer a reading of the world "from below."
