Official history remembers the big names and deals with the rest. Neïla Czermak Ichti, a young French artist, has made this rest her material. Drawings, animated sculptures, textiles, assemblages where acrylic meets wood, where old perfume bottles become relics: at the Palais de Tokyo, as part of the Normes Corps season, she composes "a story of monsters"—as intimate as it is collective. The approach is unique. Alongside her father, the painter Polô Czermak, she transforms family secrets into legends.

Her figures—hybrid, sometimes monstrous, always tender—oscillate between autobiography and nightmare, truth and fiction. Al Qarin, Trespassing Lady, Hérudite's Return: the titles themselves carry the memory of a grandmother, of a language left at the door of the house, of lineages that the family preferred to silence. Against dissipation, Czermak Ichti deploys a patient, obstinate, almost shamanic strategy.

This is where her work reaches its full height. Behind the word "memory"—often misused—lies a real question: who decides what deserves to be included?History almost never remembers women, diasporas, or family homes. Czermak Ichti does not pity them; she transforms them into magnificent monsters. To the marginalized figures, it offers what art can offer most precious: a place to appear, a form to endure, a legend to share.
