The JAD: a must-see destination and a program to follow.

Welcome to a place like no other. Open since September 2022, the JAD, Jardin des Métiers d'Art et du Design (Garden of Arts and Crafts and Design), is located on the edge of the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud and the Manufacture de Sèvres. Behind this enigmatic name lies a veritable hive of activity: some twenty workshops, an exhibition gallery, a MakerLab, a learning and experimentation laboratory, and spaces for socializing, research, and work. Committed to the creative process, the JAD intends to make a difference. Here, innovation and local context are brought into dialogue.

To fill our summer of rejuvenation, the JAD is opening its doors to the French landscape, and it's sure to amaze us. The group exhibition À Nous Deux: Design and Crafts, the Making of Possibilities highlights crafts of living heritage, from Moselle to Corsica, from Périgord to Normandy, from Lyon to Sarthe, and as far as Aubusson. This diversity reveals the vitality of French crafts and the capacity of design to engage with technical traditions: watchmaking, carpentry, lapidary work, paper and glass, embroidery and metalwork, cabinetmaking, screen printing, weaving, ceramics, blown glass, cutlery, and fusing. A subtly designed exhibition modestly conveys the energy of collective work. The exhibition brings together models, drawings, prototypes, trials, and final pieces—all traces of a process of iteration and evolution.
